January site update
While working the round robin student drop off this week at the elementary campus, Ms. Lyons and myself (Mr. Kuhny) were approached with a variety of questions and concerns that our parents seem to have regarding the new campus located on the corner of Shoup Ave. and Oxnard St. Many parents seemed concerned about if and when the move to the new site was going to happen. Knowing that these are some of the same concerns that our middle and high school parents have first of all, let me say that YES the move will happen, and the following should explain Ivy’s thinking on the issue.
The process of obtaining the CUP (Conditional Use Permit) is in progress with the city of Los Angeles, which can take around 4-6 months. Until the city issues this permit Ivy is not allowed to have use of the campus. Once the city issues the CUP, then the next phase is addressing improvement needs to satisfy American Disabilities Act (ADA). We will also prepare for addressing the Neighborhood Counsel, which concludes the CUP process. When we get to this point, we will ask for parent participation in attending and speaking at some of these meetings. Ivy anticipates this all happening right around the same time as State testing.
For the benefit of the students, current thoughts are that we (Ivy) will delay moving to the new campus until the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year. Our concerns are that by moving or upending the students during testing would be detrimental to their ability to perform at their very best. If something changes, we will post it to this site to keep you informed as events unfold.
Thank you for your patience, support and especially for making Ivy your school of choice:
