Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year, which will begin on Wednesday, August 12, 2020.   I will be learning a lot about your student the first few weeks of school; therefore it is only fair that I tell you a little about me now. I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Management with an option in accounting from California State University Los Angeles in 1997 and my California Credential through National University; Multiple-Subject with a business amendment in 2005 and a General Science Single Subject in 2011. I'm an enthusiastic member of the science community who whole heartily believes in Ivy's mission of creating lifelong learners not just high school graduates. I teach the importance of lifelong learning by example. I have been an active member of COSEE West, a UCLA / USC marine science program, since 2007. I have worked with the University of Boulder Colorado for three summers on environmental issues such as climate change and water quality. Furthermore, Ivy's science team has participated in the USC QuikScience competition in 2010, 2011, and 2013; claiming third place in 2010 and 2013 and UCLA’s ProjectEcho Business Plan competition 2013-2019; claiming 3rd place several years and 1st place in 2018. I look forward to working with the 2020-2021 6th grade class and 7th grade Business Skills class in fulfilling their academic goals.

I will treat you and your student with respect and kindness and expect the same in return. Please feel free to email me at anytime via the "send email" button under my photo (Ivy website - parent portal - staff directory - button under photo Ms. Guss). I look forward to working with you, your student, and your family in the upcoming year.
